Anthony
Aziz and Sammy Cucher have been working as a collaborative
art team since 1991. Their photography, digital art and video
installations have been exhibited at the Venice Biennale, the
Biennal de Lyon in France, the Hayward Gallery in London, The
New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York, the Cooper-Hewitt
National Design Museum in New York, the National Gallery of
Berlin and at MIT in Cambridge, Massachussetts.
Considered
pioneers in the field of digital art, Aziz + Cucher have
a long creative career that spans a range of media. After
a decade of producing conceptually-driven work that represented
the human body in an age of rapid technological change,
their work, in 2003, took a decidedly celebratory turn, reveling
in the expanded visual possibilities of digital media and
resulting in works which represent Nature with startling
complexity. They have expertly arrived at their own visual
language, in which photographic and painterly techniques
are blended together to create a dynamic techno-pointillism.
Their work is held in numerous private and public collections,
including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the San Francisco
Museum of Modern Art, the FNAC in Paris, the National Gallery
of Australia, the Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid, and
the Musee de L"Elysee in Switzerland.
As
professors at Parsons The New School for Design in
New York, Anthony and Sammy are committed to investigating
and expanding the relationship between the fine arts and applied
design through innovation and experimentation with new materials
and new technologies. |
